– Identifying the path to Jesus.

– How can we find the Gates that lead to life and the Lord?

– Who shall enter the gates of the Lord?

– What are the benefits of seeking the Door to Life through Jesus

– What good is it to gain the world and lose your soul?

– Identifying the path to Jesus.

Commentary – Last week we talked about the different types of Doors (access points, opportunities, decisions to be made) that can lead to temptation. How every relationship, every location entered and every, thing or object used, you come into agreement with and it opens doors to your life. This is what gives a spirit access to you, your agreement with it, your actions and lifestyle choices. Jesus made a way for those who no longer want to walk in darkness. Psalm 119:105 – 105 Your word (God’s word) is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path., Psalms 37:23 to 24 – 23 The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].

24 Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.

Commentary – Review from last week

Mastering temptation to stay on the narrow path.

Determine where your treasure is – Matthew 6:21 – 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Commentary – if your treasure is ungodly your path will be ungodly. If your treasure is the Lord than your path will be filled with light of Jesus and life. Example – Coming the Lord to receive money and Power, this is the wrong heart motive to come to God with.

Genesis 4:6 to 7 – (Cain’s offering was the best of what he had) 6 And the Lord said to Cain, why are you angry? And why do you look sad and depressed and dejected?

7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you, but you must

master it.

1 Corinthians 6:12 – “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. Commentary – to be mastered is to have that person place or thing determine your life actions. Example – when someone starts off drinking and then becomes a alcoholic. The drink is mastering them because they are not able to say no to it. We want to always be able to say No, to resist temptation. Only by submitting to God can you resist temptation, then the devil will flee. James 4 :7 – 7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

Philippians 4:6 – (Jesus’ speaking) 6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

Philippians 4:8to 9 – (Jesus speaking) 8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome(pleasing) and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

9 Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it (on Jesus), and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.

Commentary – Use the words in Philippians 4:8to 9 and the entire chapter as a navigation through life. When we are looking for what doors are good and not good. Let this be your standard to guide you.

How can we find the Gates that lead to life and the Lord?

Commentary – We must go through the right door to enter into the kingdom of God.

Contrary to belief, all roads do not Lead to God. There is only one way to the father. That is the Father of Jesus. You can only get to the Father of Jesus, through Jesus. There is only one way to the Father. John 14:6 – (Jesus speaking to His Disciples) 6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.

Commentary – We must go through the right door to enter into the kingdom of God. Let’s review Matthew 6 verse 33 again – 33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.  Commentary – Please take note that if someone tells you that smoking, drugs, palm reading, Shamin, crystal balls, witch craft, black magic, a good witch, white witch, and other ways lead to God, they are not talking about Jesus. They are leading you to the god they serve. Ask if they are talking about Jesus. When you come into agreement with that person and that thing they are offering, that spirit is waiting for you as a sacrifice to their God they serve. You opened a door into your life.

Matthew 7:15 to 16 – 15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but inside they are devouring wolves.

16 You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?

Hebrews 1:1- 1 In many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets,

2 [But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order].

John 10:7 – 7 So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that I Myself am the Door for the sheep.

John 14:6 – (Jesus speaking to His Disciples) 6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me. Commentary – Jesus says, through me because He is the Gate by which you must enter to get to the Father, who is God. Remember John 10:7, when Jesus says, I am the Door.

Philippians 4:9 – (Jesus’ speaking) 9 Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it (on Jesus), and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you. Commentary – (Read and study the Life of Jesus)

Who shall enter the gates of the Lord?

Psalms 118:19 to 20 – 19 Open to me the [temple] gates of righteousness; I will enter through them, and I will confess and praise the Lord. 20 This is the gate of the Lord; the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall enter through it.

21 I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You, for You have heard and answered me; and You have become my Sal

Matthew 7:14 – 14 But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it.

Psalms 24:3 to 6 – 3 Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the generation [description] of those who seek Him [who inquire of and for Him and of necessity require Him], who seek Your face, [O God of] Jacob. Selah [pause, and think of that]!

Matthew 7:21 to 23– (Jesus Speaking) 21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven.

22 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? Commentary – This is why we must seek Jesus and not Prophesy, or miracles. Many see this as magic sadly and are drawn to it. This is the abundance of their heart and where their treasure is. The seek after the super natural and not a relationship with Jesus.

Commentary – Let’s continue – Matthew 7:23 to 24-

(Jesus Speaking) 23 And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].

24 So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a [p]sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.

Revelation 3:7 to 8 – 7 And to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Philadelphia write: These are the words of the Holy One, the True One, He Who has the key of David, who opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one shall open: 8 I know your [record of] works and what you are doing. See! I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name.

  2. Psalms 8:34 – 34 Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?

Psalms 119:2 – 2 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are they who keep His testimonies, and who seek, inquire for and of Him and crave Him with the whole heart.

Psalm 23:1 to 6 – 1 The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

2 He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

3 He refreshes and restores my life (myself); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake. 4 Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.

6 Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

2 Peter 1:4 -Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Psalms 103 – for additional reading at home – Forget not His benefits

– What good is it to gain the world and lose your soul?

Matthew 16:26 – 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life [his blessed life in the kingdom of God]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] life [in the kingdom of God]? Commentary – This is what happens when a person wonders off of the narrow path to God. Remember Jesus is the only way to the father. Do not get distracted by temptations. Keep yourself submitted to Jesus, constantly review in your heart if you are desiring other things more than God. Are addictions forming to certain things, social media, sex, alcohol, drugs, money, power. These are doors, agreements that are waiting at the door of your heart for you to agree to let them in. Once you agree, they want to become stronger to take over and master you. This is when you develop a addiction. That thing is trying to become strong. Begin to resist thee devil by submitting to God so, the devil flees. Fast, die to the lustful cravings of this world.

1 John 2:17 – 17 And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever.

1 Corinthians 10:13 to 14 Continued – But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.

14 Therefore, my dearly beloved, shun (keep clear away from, avoid by flight if need be) any sort of idolatry (of loving or venerating anything more than God). James 1:13 to 14 – 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one.

14 But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).

15 Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death.

Proverbs 22:17 to 20 – (Jesus speaking to Disciples)17 Listen (consent and submit) to the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge;

18 For it will be pleasant if you keep them in your mind [believing them]; your lips will be accustomed to [confessing] them. Commentary – this means – speak the word of God as confessions out loud over yourself, your home, your life, everything pertaining to you.

Proverbs 22:19 – 19 So that your trust (belief, reliance, support, and confidence) may be in the Lord, I have made known these things to you today, even to you.

Galatians 5:16 – 16 But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).  _______________

Galatians 5:17- 17 For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.

18 But if you are guided (led) by the [Holy] Spirit, you are not subject to the Law.

19 Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency,

20 Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),

21 Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,

23 Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].

24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires.

25 If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit [g]we have our life in God, let us go forward [h]walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]

Psalms 118: 20 to 21 – 19 Open to me the [temple] gates of righteousness; I will enter through them, and I will confess and praise the Lord.

Prayer –

open up Ye gates and let the King of Glory in – Psalms 24:6 to 10 – 6 This is the generation [description] of those who seek Him [who inquire of and for Him and of necessity require Him], who seek Your face, [O God of] Jacob. Selah [pause, and think of that]!

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be lifted up, you age-abiding doors, that the King of glory may come in.

8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; yes, lift them up, you age-abiding doors, that the King of glory may come in.

10 Who is [He then] this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah [pause, and think of that]!
